Chances are, the answer is a resounding "No". Luckily, Parental Unit personally attends to all my grooming needs...I even let her trim my nails!

We'd read a few stories recently about dogs suffering "accidental" deaths while at the groomers, but this story in The New York Times put it all together...and we just can't believe what we're reading. How big are these salons, and how many dogs are they grooming at once that the staff "forget" that they put a dog in a heated dryer? Not a good outcome from that mistake.
Although there are currently no federal or state requirements for dog groomers, legislation to regulate the trade is pending in New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts. We hope that once these regulations are in place in those states and others, dog deaths during such a routine procedure like grooming, will at least drop. And we're glad to know there's a call for permanently nixing those heated kennel dryers in favor of blow dryers.
In the meantime, let us know if you take your dog to a groomer or do your furry friend's grooming yourself.

My predecessor, Carson, went to the groomers for 16 years, but he was so bad that parental Unit had to stay with him the whole time! And the person who groomed him in her house became a trusted friend—Parental Unit is visiting her and her Airedales today! We'll put up pictures from the visit soon!
We don't go to that torture place

We do use a groomer most of the time, but are very careful. We used a mobile dryer for Pip. They pull up right in front in a custom grooming fan so you can keep an eye on things
Meant to say mobile groomer not dryer
We know that people do it all the time—because sometimes they just have to— but PU can't imagine leaving me anywhere with someone she didn't know personally, for grooming or anything else.... Call her over protective!
I recently read of another dog who was "cooked" with a dryer, but that dog was a 2 year old Golden. It's truly sad when it's become more business and less about the dogs.
I groom myself but recently I didn't want the mounds of fur flying in my yard (or my poor neighbor's pool), so we went to a "do it yourself" dog grooming salon where I still was the one to bathe and groom her. When I have zero time I'll have a friend from our agility class groom her in her grooming van - but I won't leave her with strangers.
Yes, Amy, we heard about that poor young Golden, too. Glad to know you do your own grooming—you've got a tougher job than Parental Unit has! Thanks for weighing in! If we can help even one pet owner become more vigilant , we've done a "good thing"!
