The 2015 Consumer Elecronics Show Has Gone To The Dogs

The 2015 Consumer Electronics Show that took place all last week in Las Vegas provided a window into our tech future: From "Ultra" High Definition TV's with curved screens to cars that smoothly connect to your smartphone (did we mention that everything connects smoothly with your smartphone?) and maybe even drive themselves, all the new, shiny gadgets were on display.

But according to this article from our friends at Dog Fancy, cool products for dogs stole the show.

Take this fancy dog collar from Binatone that allows you to talk with your dog when you're not home via a voice command feature, live video streaming and GPS tracking.

Or perhaps you'd be interested in this automatic dog feeder by PetNet that apparently goes beyond the traditional electronic pet feeder by syncing with your dog's specific dietary needs (and your smartphone, of course).

Now, we're certainly in favor of new electronic gadgets in general, and well-designed products or toys in particular, that help enrich your pet or help you achieve a closer bond with your pet. But we question what we're really making easier here. Is it making it easier for your humans to spend less time with your pet, enabling you to track your pet's activities from afar? On occasion this might be fine, but the idea of regularly "monitoring" your pet without actually "being with" your pet strikes us as bizarre. Is it possible that if you don't have time to play, keep track of or even feed your pet in person that maybe, just maybe, you shouldn't have a pet?

                                       What say you?

I think the same thing when I see a lot of these new electronic monitoring gadgets. I love new technology and I can see some specific applications for some of the products, but I hope people don't start relying on these things because it makes their life easier, at the expense of their pets.

What cool new inventions but we agree with the others - if you don't have time for your pet; maybe you should wait to own one until you do have the time. Just our 2 cents.

Love ya lots♥

I agree, but it would be nice to say hello to Ruby during the day while we are at work ...the talking collar might help all of us get through the day.

BaaaaaaWaaaah the Talking Collar thingy would be FUN at a Pawty... your peeps could make their guests think YOU could really "SPEAK"... BaaaaWaaaah.

BUTT we think a GOOD APP would be one where it reminded the Peeps to Pet and Kiss and Cuddle us... every 87 seconds.
