Best And Worst States For Animal Protection Laws

Our friends at Cat Time.com posted this article and accompanying map just a few days ago. The Animal League Defense Fund creates an annual ranking of  states according to the animal protection laws of each state. As the article notes, this ranking does not take into account the great work that animal organizations and rescues do. On the other hand, it's a lot easier for animal organizations to accomplish their good work with laws backing them up. The ranking also compares the states' rankings over a period of five years-for example, Oregon moved up from fifth to second from 2012 to 2013.

Check out where your state ranks, and if it's not in the top five or so, start making calls to your elected officials, calling this ranking to their attention. Every little bit we do to help the condition of the animals we share our lives and planet with, the better off we will all be!
