When we read this article about Sgt. Kevin Brackney and his service dog, a black Labrador Retriever named Nyma, we realized that it's not just the human veterans and the "dogs of war" (those canines that are part of the military and that serve in battle zones alongside soldiers), that we should salute today. We should also tip our hat and give thanks to the many service dogs specifically trained to help both returning soldiers and veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Take a few minutes to watch this video about Sgt. Brackney and his family, that now includes Nyma, who knows over 80 commands, many specific to helping someone recovering from PTSD, like "Block", where Nyma lies in front of Brackney "to prevent someone from approaching him too closely." She also knows to sit beside him facing backward to alert the Sergent if someone is approaching him from behind.
Today, we not only give a heartfelt salute to our human and canine veterans, but to those service dogs and the people who train them to help our veterans successfully integrate into civilian life.

Hear , hear. We salute our veterans too both past and present as today it is Poppy Day over here and yesterday was Remembrance Day.
Have a marvellous Monday.
Best wishes Molly
We are honoring our veterans too! I will definitely check out the video...off to it now!

That is a wonderful story. What great work those dogs do to help out our veterans.
