Nature's Variety Instinct Raw Boost Minis: One Cat's Learn-ed Opinion

We were asked by our good friends at Chewy.com, to review one of Nature Variety's newer products: Instinct Raw Boost Minis (Chicken Formula) for cats, and we received one, 2.25 oz package to try, courtesy of Chewy.com. The opinions that follow are 100% our own!

As you might remember, we've previously reviewed Nature's Variety Instinct Raw Boost Bites and awarded them a resounding four paws and two thumbs up for the unbelievably high quality ingredients, ease of storing and feeding, and, well, the fact that both Bella and I loved them. In fact, we've trained Parental Unit to routinely order mass quantities of these freeze-dried raw treats from Chewy.com - last time she ordered seven boxes because they were on sale!

Parental Unit compared the ingredients in the "raw boost minis" to the ingredients in the "raw boost bites" and they are exactly the same. And although Nature's Variety chooses to label the mini boost bites separately for dogs and cats, those too, have exactly the same ingredients and are the same size.

Please note: Because these treats contain only freeze-dried raw ingredients, humans should wash their hands both before and after serving this or any raw treat, although there is no need for refrigeration.

Here's the top-notch ingredient list for the Nature's Variety Instinct Raw boost Minis (Chicken Formula):

Chicken (Including Ground Chicken Bone), Turkey, Turkey Liver, Turkey Heart, Pumpkinseeds, Apples, Carrots, Butternut Squash, Ground Flaxseed, Montmorillonite Clay, Broccoli, Lettuce, Spinach, Dried Kelp, Apple Cider Vinegar, Parsley, Honey, Salmon Oil, Mixed Tocopherols, Olive Oil, Rosemary Extract, Blueberries, Alfalfa Sprouts, Persimmons, Inulin, Rosemary, Sage, Clove

But as we always like to say, "If the furkids don't like 'em, it doesn't matter how great the ingredients are!" So let's turn the review over to Ms. Bella...

Well, you called me over to the table...will there be food served?

Ahhh, what have we here? Clever looking little morsels...

Are these four just an appetizer?

Well, that one was quite delicious.

Should I keep eating these or hide them for later?

Let me get this last one...before I dive into the bag.

I only get FOUR! Are you kidding me?!!!

Only four? Can I at least have ONE?!!!!

Bella, Parental Unit and I are unanimous in our praise for Nature's Variety Instinct Raw Boost Minis! The ingredient list mimics the carnivore nature of dogs, and particularly cats, with whole meat proteins, including those highly nutritious organ meats as the first ingredients, and fruits, vegetables and other fauna included to round out the biologically appropriate nature of these treats. And although the ingredient list for the minis is identical to the larger boost bites, the minis are the perfect treat size for a cat, and a great training size for any dog, so it's a convenient snack for at home or on the go. Parental Unit has taken to packing the minis in my walking pouch lest I get hungry on my walks, and Bella now paces the kitchen every morning, meowing until she gets a few for her pre-breakfast snack-what a whiner!
