Most pet owners already know that more pets go missing on July 4th than any other day, but our friends at Petfinder.com want to change that scary statistic for this year's holiday. They've rolled out a Gallery of Tips and embeddable (and adorable!) info graphics, like the one above, with information that can help keep your pet safely and happily at home, while you enjoy this boisterous holiday.
While humans are celebrating our nation's independence, dogs and cats can become frightened and disoriented from all of the noise, fireworks and general all around hoopla, so pet parents should take a few extra precautions, like snapping an up-to-date picture, making sure our collar with tags are snugly in place, and...please keep us indoors when the fireworks are booming. Even if you have a fully fenced yard with a locked gate, please keep us indoors during the prime time firecracker display-you'd be amazed at what we dogs will do to "remove ourselves" from a scary situation!
And for you bloggers out there, why not write your own post, using some of the great information provided by Petfinder, and then link that post up with Petfinder's holiday blog hop, which goes live at 12:01 EST on July 3? Hope to see you there!

Good tips. The 4th of July can be such a scary time for pets.
Good luck to all you over the pond with the run up to the 4th and the day itself. Have a terrific Tuesday.
Best wishes Molly
What great tips! I don't like fireworks and I plan on spending the night on the bathroom rug hoping they end soon.
