Sunday's "Living With Your Pet" Tips: Howl-O-Ween Safety

Great photo courtesy of Subaru's DogBook page on Facebook

These excellent Halloween safety tips for you and your pet originally hail from the ASPCA, but we noticed them on Subaru's Facebook page and realized how important it is to understand the potential hazards to our furry companions that might "pop up" around this otherwise fun holiday. Take the massive quantities of chocolate just hanging around the house, for example. While most of us know not to give even a morsel of chocolate to our dogs, many other candies that are chocolate free contain xylitol, and additive known to wreak havoc with both our canine and feline friends.

And keep any extra electrical cords you might have rigged up for the occasion away from your furkids-their feet can get tangled and/or they can indulge their urge to chew-with unfortunate results. And if you choose to put your dog or cat in one of the myriad of clever Halloween costumes available, never leave them unattended while they're in that costume!

We hope you all have a fun Halloween!

P.S. Stay tuned tomorrow for photos of  our annual German Village Pet Parade (that even the rain couldn't dampen) and your's truly in costume...

We don't really celebrate halloween but it is lovely to see our blogger friends are having fun on this special day. Thanks for the tips.
