Wow, was this article a powerful wake-up call for Parental Unit and me, although we are aware of animal testing and make the effort to purchase products whose labels declare: "Not tested on animals." I'm more than likely part Beagle, so this information strikes close to home, although we certainly don't have to be part of the species, breed, race, ethnicity, and/or religion to have empathy, do we?
This piece has a wealth of links that will both enlighten and provide the information necessary to make more humane product purchasing choices. Here's the link to the original report by KTLA, and a comprehensive list posted on PETA's web site of those companies that do and do not test on animals.

Poor babies! We always buy things that are not tested on animals and we try not to support companies that use animal testing (like Proctor & Gamble who make Iams, Eukanuba, EVO, California Natural, Innova, Mother Hubbard & Healthwise brand dog products.)

Poor Beagles! Like Kolchak Puggle, we don't buy things that are tested on animals.
Sad, but at least nine get to have good lives from now on! Shocking and heartbreaking that they never saw the outdoors...
This is a shocking eye opener -- thank you for posting it. When I looked at the list, I saw brands I use from toothpaste (Colgate) to make-up (Lancome) and was horrified at my ignorance. How can we all be better consumers?

Believe me, it was an eye opener for us, too! Thanks so much for your comment-it means a lot to us. We're not trying to preach here (although it may seem that way sometimes:-), we're just trying to provide information that we think might make your lives and the lives of your pets better.

As for your question about the poop-and-walk guy, maybe some variation of #1 (not yelling, but maybe asking him if he was just going to leave it there). Or, maybe you could pick it up, give him the bag, and say, "Oh, I think you forgot this back there."
