This hilarious article, written by Millie Kerr, a lawyer and freelance writer, was published on the Huffington Post just yesterday, and details her parent's reaction to an empty nest... that wasn't empty for long. Ms. Kerr, the youngest of four children, both shows us (through telling photos snapped at her parents home) and tells us, in the most endearing way possible, of her parents' shift from human to canine worship.
Take this memory for example: "My parents began to refer to their eldest dog as 'my girl.' Sometimes, when home for a long weekend, I would overhear one of my parents saying, 'I love you girl,' causing me to momentarily bask in their uncharacteristically spontaneous expression of love. This presumed affection vanished with the sound of a dog treat hitting the ground..."

Just so you know, Parental Unit does not have a single picture of me up anywhere in our house...yet. She says she has enough of my smiling face on her computer desktop to last her for awhile.

Mom and Dad don't have any human kids, which is just as well, because there would be no time for them. We TOTALLY own their time. As for pictures? Well, duh, we are Mom's background on her computer, and Dad's background on his phone. There is an entire calendar devoted to us each year. What else would they want to look at? Seriously. ;-)

BTW, I'm your 400th follower!
BOL, love it! We don't have any of those tiny humans BUT we have some very very talented friends who have sent us painting and pictures of our handsome selves and Mama says we just HAVE TO display them! BTW - Check out my blog post today for an invitation.
Haha. How true!!
Stopping by on the blog hop. I work as a volunteer with the Etowah Valley Humane Society that got about 5-6 dogs from the Cartersville (GA) tornados. Hoss still needs a home....
Drop into my blog to see my latest video about the tornadoes. www.pet-peeves.org
And, I like my "girls" Lucille & Maggie, LOTS more than my 7 young adult & teenage sons. My girls never have asked for the car keys, or money for a movie, or a hundred other things that wear on me...and my wallet.
