In a recent post we promised you photos from our first visit to a dog park, and that's not technically correct: we visited this same dog park for the first time last week, but when Parental Unit whipped out her camera to capture my first moments running free...the battery was dead.
During that first visit, there were actually a few dogs on the "small dog side"-8 rescued Whippets. Now, please understand that I'm not what the experts call "socialized", so I had no clue what to do when these hyper little dogs surrounded me...so I hid under one of the agility platforms! Parental Unit is still weeping over that missed photo op:-)
On our second visit, from which you'll see pictures, there was a beautiful Golden Retriever on the "big dog side"-I tried a few times to engage him in conversation, but his owner was trying to train the poor fella, so we didn't have much time to chat.
So what you'll see here is me running around an empty field-oops! We'll do better next time.
Notice that this park's surroundings are less than bucolic-PU was expecting beautiful old trees packed with squirrels for me to chase!
Here I am trying to strike up a conversation with the only canine in miles.
I had to take a short break from inspecting the territory.
Hey! Where ya goin' already?
Stay tuned for a very special post coming on Friday!

Looks like so much fun!
Looks like fun! Sam was so hurt the first (and only) time we brought him to the dog park - he was upset we thought he was a dog. We haven't brought Monty yet because we don't think he would come back!
Sam
You had the whole place to yourself - very nice!
Your pal, Pip
To bad there weren't more doggie pals at the park. I get kinda scared when there are too many doggies in a play area. I'm bashful :)

Mr Pip took the words right out of our mouths! All of that space to run is great!
Love ya lots

Sorry we are late. Happy Wordless Wednesday. It isn't as fun at the dog park when there isn't any other dogs to play with but at least you get to run where YOU want and not where your parental unit tells you to go.
Dog parks are good for two reasons -- opportunities to run without a leash and opportunities to meet other dogs. At least you got to do the first of the two.
Be alert when you;re there 'cause not all dogs like to play nice (like some humans).
Wirey woofs,
Jake and Just Harry
