We wanted to share this moving video posted on The New York Times website with you. It shows and discusses how many of our soldiers have bonded with stray dogs in Afghanistan. Beautiful in a strange and unfortunate way, we think...

It's really sort of sad, isn't it? Kind of a doomed relationship, yet comforting while it lasts.
Yes, very well said, meowmeowmans:-)
A friend of mine saw this and said it was beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. We saw a documentary about dogs in Vietnam awhile back. Lots of families sent their family dogs to war in Vietnam (they thought they were doing something good for their country). At any rate, when the war ended many of those dogs were left behind with the other "equipment". The soldiers were heartbroken at having to leave their friends behind, but had no say in the matter. We saw this about 10 years ago and it still haunts us.

My eyes are all leaky now. That's a beautiful but sad relationship between the humans and the canines.
Such a sad and touching story... thanks for sharing it.
