A Compelling Commencement Address

Warning: This post has nothing to do with dogs, but it really touches on just about everything else. Well, the post doesn't touch on everything, but the commencement address certainly seems to.

As many of you might have heard this week, Steve Jobs, the CEO of Apple, Inc. and co-founder of Pixar Animation Studios (now part of Disney) has taken another leave of absence to focus on his health problems. This time, the e-mail that he sent to his employees did not include a specific return date like the last one did, although he did say that he "hoped to return." Parental Unit has been a big fan of both Jobs and Apple since she started reading about the company and its founder way back in the mid 1980's, so she is particularly upset over this news. Jobs, at 55, is a survivor of both Pancreatic cancer and a liver transplant.

We learned that CNN had posted Jobs' 2005 commencment address to Stanford graduates on its web site, and Parental Unit took CNN's recommendation that the address was "amazing" and should not be missed.
After watching it, we agree - it is amazing in its simple yet powerful message. We hope you take the 22 minutes to watch this fascinating look into our recent past and embrace Jobs' call to action to a new generation.

We also hope that this weekend, as many of you are communicating with friends and family on your IMac, IPhone, or IPad, or listening to your favorite music on your IPod, or watching any of the Toy Story movies, Finding Nemo et. al., that you send out some positive vibes for the man whose vision made that possible.

We're so glad that so many of you are sending good vibes to Mr. Jobs and that you've enjoyed the video of the Stanford address. Despite PU's close following of Jobs and Apple, she missed this address, and is thankful to CNN for posting it.

We'll have to watch it again to see the those startled faces of the Stanford faculty (hehehe). Although we knew he was adopted, we hadn't known the full story that he discusses here-how wonderfully ironic!

And to our newest follower: I'm sure your cats will approve-I'm forced to share my blog with Bella (our dang cat) regularly:-)
