Well, our good friend (and my personal photographer), Rachel, from www.rachellaurenphotography.com, wrote a fabulous piece eloquently explaining the connection between our "buying habits" and keeping those dastardly puppy mills in business, that she aptly titled: Before You Buy That Christmas Puppy.
Please take the time to read that post right here: rachellaurenphotography.blogspot.com/2010/11/before-you-buy-that-christmas-puppy.html
You all might recall that we are part of Iam's Home 4 The Holidays program that promotes adoption from shelters at this time of year. Mike Arms, the founder of this program, and the President of the Helen Woodward Animal Shelter, has made a point of saying (and we're paraphrasing here) that puppy mills make enough money during the holiday season to sustain their businesses for the rest of the year. His goal, through the Iams Home 4 The Holidays program, is to take away that seasonal business and hopefully put puppy mills out of business for good!
So, if you really want to give a dog or cat for the holidays, remember: Adopt, don't shop!
As always, thanks so much for your support-it means a lot to us:-)!
Really, it does...I'm just a little tired today, so I don't look very enthusiastic...

Bocci, you look adorable! And thank you for spreading the word about adoption!
Great picture! Why anyone would "buy" a dog instead of "adopting" one in a shelter is beyond me. I think puppy selling should be illegal!!
Yay for adoptions! Yay! :) I was adopted six years ago. I luvs my familee! :)
I'm all fur adoptions too!
Four years and three point five months!

We had read Rachel's post a few days ago. It's indeed a very well-written post! Thanks for sharing the link.
Thanks for sharing the link. It should probably become a poster that people could "leave" discretely near their local pet store.
Happy Blog Hop!

Bocci I wish I'd had as nice a present as you for my 50th. I'm going to show you off to my followers this week with your own little 'kennel' area on my home page. I'll message you when I've done it...off to find a nice photo of you so my folk will link in and find you.

That is a wonderful post. We are certainly in favor of adopting or rescuing a dog or cat rather than buying one from a puppy mill. The big thing to is get that pet spayed or neutered. It reduces the number of homeless animals. Hope you have a wonderful evening.
I was bought from a very good breeder, but now that my people know more about rescue animals, they will probably adopt next time.
Thanks for sharing this great post.

I've linked your site to your enigmatic photo which I've put top right so hopefully my followers will come and say hello to you. I must be half awake because when I first set it up I wrote 'lick the photo to meet Bocci'!Oh dear...at least it's made me smile first thing on a dark miserable morning. Keep beefing Bocci.
