In that same post, she offered to give a very generous donation to America's Vet Dogs, a wonderful organization "dedicated to helping those who have served our country honorably to live with dignity and independence...through the use of guide dogs, service dogs, and innovative technology", in the name of one lucky winner, chosen from those who left comments.
Well... can you believe it? We were the lucky winner!
Parental Unit chose to have the donation made in memory of her late father, Louis Edward DeMartin, a WWII veteran, who drove tanks through battle-scarred Europe for over two years. Although she lost her wonderful father to heart disease when he was only 54 and she 17, Parental Unit knows how proud he was of his military service. And she and her family certainly are proud of him!
We are so pleased and thankful that the memory of Louis and his service to our country was honored by Rachel's generous gift!
Here's a link to the most recent post that Rachel wrote about her gift to America's Vet Dogs: rachelsdoggielife.blogspot.com/2010/12/season-of-giving.html
Thank you so much, Rachel!
