Collars For A Cause

We wanted to call your attention to a really neat project: Collars For a Cause (CFAC) that was launched just a few weeks ago by Brett Chisholm, author of Houston Dog Blog and Life+Dog Magazine.  Parental Unit was lucky enough to meet Brett at the BlogPaws West conference this past September, where he told her a bit about this new idea.

Brett is a professional photographer in Houston, Texas, and for the last five years, he's teamed up with a local non-profit called, Spay-Neuter Assistance Program, Inc (SNAP) for a fashion show and designer auction to benefit SNAP.  And this year they added Collars for a Cause, an additional, and really cool way to raise money for this wonderful organization. Check out their website right here: www.collarsforacause.org to see the celebrity-designed collars that will be auctioned until December 10th-bid early and often!

P.S. Just two of the celebrity designers are that fabulous cutie-pie designer, Nate Berkus, and every one's funny woman and one of The View hosts, Joy Bayhar.

We thought we'd give you a little information about the good work SNAP has done in the Houston and San Antonio areas since 1993: SNAP provides free and reduced cost spay-neuter and animal wellness services. In fact, they've sterilized over 350,000 dogs and cats since their inception. Their mission is "to prevent the suffering and death of cats and dogs due to overpopulation and preventable diseases, especially in low-income areas." Sounds good to us!
