In The Dog House

Wouldn't you all like to be in one of these "doggie homes"? Well you could be with a visit to the pet fundraiser, "Dog (and Cat) Days of Summer", this Saturday, July 17 at the wonderful Galleria Evangelia in Columbus, Ohio. There's no admission charge, but donations are welcome and all proceeds go to Pets Without Parents, a great organization working tirelessly to save abandoned pets. Of course, bring your pooch, and if he or she's gettin' a little smelly from all this hot weather, there will be baths offered for only $5!
As the afternoon winds down, there will a poetry reading by Charelene Fix, the Chair of CCAD's English Department. She'll be reading from her acclaimed (and truly beautiful) book of poems, "Flowering Bruno: A Dogography" inspired by her late, four-legged companion, Bruno. Now back to these fabulous dog houses. They were designed and constructed by students at The Columbus College of Art and Design (CCAD), where Parental Unit teaches writing, as part of their Foundation Studies (freshman year) design class. By the way, if you can't make it in person to the fundraiser, you can still bid on these really cool dog houses at: pets@petswithoutparents.net  before midnight this Friday July 16th. Make sure to specify which doghouse you are bidding on, your name and phone #, and your bid (starting bid and maximum bid)
