Here's the scene as we approached-there were a lot of folks considering the scorching heat.
Here's the "laying on of the hands" as I get blessed by the lovely pastor of St. John's United Church of Christ, Dr. Kathryn Dwyer. Sure hope it "takes"!
And here I am befriending the lady with the treats offered to each pet after the blessing. Notice pooch behind me (so to speak) trying to horn in on the treat action. Well, I never!
Here the pastor is blessing a stuffed animal that a little girl brought ( I ate its treat!).
And the picture you've all been waiting for-the hedgehog!
One problem: Parental Unit kinda forgot that it was really a live animal and wasn't watching my reaction...until I tried to jump up and grab it-whoops!
Good thing I was a little slow on the uptake!

Your buddy,

I don't really care if they blessed the hedgehog... just tell me they drew the line at squirrels.
That's so nice!!! A real Hedgehog!!! I have a stuffed one! Lots of love, Holly and mom
A real, live hedgehog, huh? The only ones I've ever seen are stuffed and squeakers in them! And hey, you got to score on the treats! Sounds like a great day to me!

Yep, Tank, rest assured that there were no squirrels blessed!
We must continue our crusade!
Your buddy,
Bocci
Hey Holly and Fiona! I'm sending Parental Unit on a search for a stuffed hedgehog with a sqeaker-we've seen a real one but not a stuffed one!
And do I love my furry squeaker toys!
Your buddy,
Bocci
Inky and Molly, Maggie Mae, and Maggie and Mitch-blessings right back to ya! It was fun to get blessed-and the biscuits immediately following didn't hurt either!
Your buddy,
Bocci
That sounds like a wonderful thing to do to bless all the animals, even the stuffed ones. This is our first visit here and it is a very nice blog. We will follow you and would love for you to put us on your blog roll as we will do for you.

Thanks so much, Marg - glad you enjoyed!
We will certainly follow and blogroll your blog-can hardly wait to visit!
Your buddy,
Bocci
P.S. When the pastor patiently blessed that girl's stuffed animal, Parental Unit started tearing up :-)
Did she lay on hands on the hedgehog too? only that can get very spiky.
I've come across these spiky fellas in our garden, got so excited I had to bite something except the hedgehog (I'm not stoopid!) so the railings got it.
Nice touch this blessing thing.

You are one smart pooch, Finni, biting something else instead of a spikey hedgehog! Don't know if I'd be that savvy :-)
Talk with you soon.

Bocci
