Parental Unit ran into one of her former students the other day in Petco (think I'm getting a new toy for Xmas!?) and there this gal was with a tiny puppy wrapped in a blanket. She said, "This is my surprise Xmas present from my boyfriend-he got her off of Craig's List!" ( We'll magnanimously forgive the grammatically incorrect "off of" that Parental Unit, the writing teacher, insists should be replaced with "from"). They were in there to buy the pup a sweater because he was constantly shivering, and they had just come from the vet, because the poor pup wasn't doing too well. Apparently, the "sellers" on Craig's List said the pup was 7 weeks old, but the vet said she couldn't have been more than 5 weeks.
Can we learn a lesson here folks? Even I know that a reputable breeder does not sell dogs on Craig's List, and they certainly don't yank the pups away from their mother that young-they're just trying to turn a quicker profit-duh! So here's my best advice: If you must buy a purebred (nothin' wrong with that, folks), take the time and effort to research a reputable breeder. You can also get plenty of purebred dogs and puppies from rescue groups and your local pound. Take a look at Cesar Millan's advice on this subject here: www.cesarmillaninc.com

Gee, we sure hope the young pup will be okay! We're glad to hear he was getting a sweater to wear.

Merry Christmas to you, Maggie and Mitch, and your humans too! Hope you get some extra treats today-I got a sweaky squirrel! It looks so darn real, it almost fooled me for a minute-show you a picture soon.
How sad for that sweet pup... We are a pack of purebred and mutt and that's the way... uh-huh,uh-huh... we like it!
Uh-huh, uh-huh. Yep, Parental Unit remembers that one!
